NFT image requirements
Ledger Stax and Ledger Flex have E Ink Secure Screens that display your NFT as the device’s lock screen. Because E Ink renders in grayscale and at a fixed resolution, images must meet the requirements below to display correctly.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Dimensions | The screen resolution is 400 × 672 px (width × height). The image height must be 1.68× the width, with a minimum width of 400 px. Example: 500 × 840 px is valid; 400 × 500 px is not. |
| File size | Keep the file as small as possible. Under 1 MB is strongly recommended. |
| Color profile | Both screens support up to 16 levels of gray (4-bit grayscale). Work in 4-bit grayscale to guarantee the result on-device. You may work in black and white (a larger color space), but the image will be converted to 4-bit grayscale before display and the result may differ from your source file. |
Why 4-bit grayscale?
E Ink displays do not support full-color rendering. Each pixel can be one of 16 shades, from pure black to pure white. Designing directly in 4-bit grayscale gives you full control over the dithering and tonal mapping — what you design is exactly what users see. If you supply a color or high-bit-depth image, the conversion happens automatically but without your art direction.
